Newtown Volunteer Ambulance Corps members checked on the condition of two people in a sedan who were involved in a two-vehicle accident about 4 pm August 13 on Church Hill Road, just west of its intersection with Commerce Road.

Glimpse of the Garden: Marion Thompson keeps on top of the flowering perennials, but it is David Thompson who relishes pruning shrubs into pleasing shapes.

Tall trees and perfectly pruned bushes border a woodland pathway behind the home of Marion and David Thompson.

One of several border gardens planted by Marion Thompson is filled with her favorite perennials, such as black-eyed Susans, echinacea, phlox, lilies, yarrow, and Veronica, designed to bloom successively through the seasons.

The French bleeding heart is one of Marion Thompson’s favorite garden plants, blooming all summer long, and not favored by deer.
