Sandy Hook firefighters extinguished a smoky fire in the engine compartment of a Dodge Durango SUV near the end of the Exit 11 off-ramp of Interstate 84 about 7:45 am on April 14. The Pootatuck River is positioned above the subterranean Pootatuck Aquifer, an underground source that provides water for two local public drinking water supply systems.
