The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s signature annual event, Light The Night, does not return until the fall, but fundraising continues year-round. For three hours last weekend, in fact, supporters of the society’s efforts to find a cure for blood diseases and improve the quality of life for patients of leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease, and myeloma sipped wine and enjoyed hors d’oeuvres to raise funds for just that. “The Cure Is Only A Sip Away” was hosted by McLaughlin Vineyards in Sandy Hook. Attendees tasted up to seven wines of the Alberts Hill Road vineyard, nibbled on appetizers and desserts, enjoyed live music, and generally enjoyed the warm spring afternoon whether walking around the beautiful grounds or sitting underneath a large tent that had been set up for the event. Patricia Sabato, left, a friend of the vineyard, volunteered her time for the afternoon, pouring and describing the afternoon’s wine selections. Jen Chion, on the right, handled all of the food preparation for the fundraiser.
