Jake Wilson, a seventh grader at Newtown Middle School, gets started on the first of six math questions at the Fairfield County Math League Meet, hosted Tuesday, February 14, at Newtown Middle School. Immanuel Lutheran Players will bring one of the world’s most recognizable paintings to life this month and next with four performances of The Last Supper Enactment. With direction by Mary Ann Grogan and Diane Wardenburg, the Players will offer performances for the first time at Edmond Town Hall. They will then return to their traditional location, Immanuel Lutheran Church & School in Danbury, on Saturday, March 31, and Sunday, April 1. In a one-hour presentation, the enactments bring to life Leonardo da Vinci’s “Last Supper” painting, with each Apostle offering a monologue describing his relationship with Jesus. Susan Snow gave a wave, with her dog Bosco keeping an eye from the yard, from the front porch of a wood shop her husband Glenn built on the couple’s Sandy Hook property. Glenn took a plan and modified it, said Susan, and hand cut all of the wood for the building. The building, which took a few years to complete, is a combination of cedar, hickory, birch, oak and maple. “It’s a good representation of Connecticut wood,” she said. The outbuilding and its flags provided a beautiful spot of color on February 24, which dawned gray and dull af-ter an early morning snow. While the frozen precipitation had stopped by daybreak, and late morning and afternoon rains quickly washed away much of the snow, but for a few hours it looked like winter again in Newtown.
