Josie and Bob Schmidt show off some of the new and renovated identification signs that will be placed along the trails at Orchard Hill Nature Center for the 4th Annual Town & Country Nature Walk. The event will return to the nature center, on Huntingtown Road near its intersection with Orchard Hill Road, on Sunday, May 15, from 2 to 5 pm. Organized by The Town & Country Garden Club of Newtown (which Mrs Schmidt is a member of), in cooperation with Newtown Parks & Recreation Department, Girl Scout Troop 599 and Newtown Lions Club (of which Mr Schmidt is a member), the event will encourage participants to explore the center’s waterfall, walk the boardwalk through ferns and wetlands, learn to identify wild flowers, plants and trees, and even answer some questions and qualify for prizes. Participants will receive a free plant or seed packet, and refreshments will be available. Contact Margareta Kotch at 203-426-5426 for additional information. (Hicks photo)
