Willow Bill arrived in Newtown from Nevada at the end of January. He returned last week after visiting his best friend and father, hoping to help the group placing Hearts of Hope on Wednesday, February 13, around town (the group had finished their work before he was able to catch up with them, unfortunately). While here, Bill delivered countless hearts fashioned from willows he found while walking, including a few to The Bee. On Friday, February 15, Bill said farewell to Newtown for at least a few months. He is heading home again, but promised to return in the autumn. Meanwhile, his pack now carries a message of love from Newtown to everyone he passes. (Hicks photo)
![Hundreds of people visited St John’s Episcopal Church for its Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper last week. The Reverend Mark Moore tried to greet each of them as they walked into the church’s undercroft. The dinner raised funds this year for the church, as well as Sandy Hook Promise. Each group received $667, according to Cheryl Moulthrop. In addition, “thanks to other contributions coming into St John’s from around the country, we were also able to donate to [Sandy Hook Fire & Rescue] for $226.78 as well as Newtown Police Union for same amount, and to Sandy Hook School Support Fund for $560,” Mrs Moulthrop said.
