Read MoreThree men from Rochester, N.Y., strolled through Newtown on Tuesday with a mission to bring healing and prayer to residents. They carried a wooden cross that read “Jesus Save.” One of the individuals, Domenic Danesi, on the left, nearing the top of Church Hill Road, a teacher, said they were commanded to come here by God and remind people that America’s roots, at one point, were in Christ. “We’re trying to be led by the Holy Spirit but we knew we were coming to Newtown today,” Danesi said. “We pray before we do anything.” Danesi was accompanied by Rick, center, and Brandon, who asked to remain otherwise anonymous. Rick, a photographer, had on a T-shirt with the words “Don’t Worry — Trust God”; Brandon, a waiter, wore a hat that read “Jesus Is Life.” The trio’s stops included the Sandy Hook Fire & Rescue main station and the Newtown Volunteer Ambulance Corps facility. They have, they said, undertaken similar missions in parts of New York State as well as in Michigan. (Hicks photo)
