With two Newtown Hook & Ladder Company No. 1 trucks parked in Hawley Elementary School’s parking lot on Tuesday, October 23, students ventured outside to learn about the vehicles and tools used by firefighters from company members Ray Corbo, right, and Dan Tomascak. Inside the school firefighters also spoke to students about fire prevention, and in the school’s multipurpose room a temporary smoke room was created to help students learn how to crawl in the event of a fire.
