Borough Zoners review hook ladder firehouse application Donald Mitchell

$Botsford firefighters stood by at the scene of a rollover accident that occurred about 9:30 am on January 24 on South Main Street, just north of its intersection with Orchard Hill Road. Police said that a disabled, parked tractor-trailer truck was positioned along the northbound lane of South Main Street. The driver of another northbound tractor-trailer truck, Paul Springer, 59, of Rhode Island, then attempted to pass the disabled tractor-trailer truck. During that maneuver on a curve in the road, Springer’s vehicle entered the southbound lane. Motorist Marc Aitoro, 21, of Easton, who was driving a 2004 Dodge Durango southward on South Main Street, then attempted to avoid a head-on collision with Springer’s vehicle, so Aitoro turned to the right, after which the two vehicles collided and the Dodge then struck a snowbank on the right road shoulder, causing it to roll over onto its side. Newtown Ambulance volunteers transported Aitoro to Danbury Hospital for treatment of injuries. Springer received a traffic infraction in the incident. (Gorosko photo)$
$Police report a two-car accident on South Main Street, just north of South Main Street’s intersection with Simm Lane, about 2:07 pm January 22. Motorist Anita Carroll, 75, of Monroe, who was driving a 2006 Honda Accord sedan, was traveling eastward on Appleblossom Lane and intended to make a left turn to head northward on South Main Street. At that time, motorist David McKay, 57, of 115 Hattertown Road was driving a 1992 Cadillac DeVille sedan southward on South Main Street. Because a snow bank located at the intersection obstructed Carroll’s view of South Main Street, she pulled the Honda out onto South Main Street, resulting in a collision with the Cadilla. Newtown Volunteer Ambulance Corps members treated both Carroll and McKay for minor injuries at the scene. Newtown Hook & Ladder firefighters responded to the incident. Police issued Carroll an infraction for failure to obey a stop sign. (R. Scudder Smith photo)$
