$Police, Newtown Volunteer Ambulance Corps members, and Botsford Fire Rescue volunteer firefighters responded to a two-vehicle accident about 3:26 pm on May 24 on South Main Street. The collision, plus the ensuing investigation and cleanup, caused travel delays in the area. Police said motorist Frank Farrington, 62, of 13 Cedar Hill Road was driving a 1991 Nissan Maxima sedan southward on South Main Street and was then slowing as he was preparing to make a left turn into the driveway of a gas station at 151 South Main Street. Southbound driver Laurel Ann Ireland, 24, of Monroe, who was driving a commercial 1999 Ford Windstar minivan, attempted to pass the Nissan on the right, but struck the rear end of the Nissan. Ambulance staffers treated Farrington at the scene for a minor leg injury. Ireland received an infraction for passing on the right, according to police. (Gorosko photo)$
