CROP Walk participants ambled through a scenic sylvan setting at Fairfield Hills on Sunday, October 24, during the annual fundraising event intended to end hunger at home and around the world. CROP is an acronym for Communities Responding to Overcome Poverty. Fundraising walks are communitywide events sponsored by Church World Service and organized by local churches. Through sponsorship and fundraising, CROP Walks raise more than $16 million annually. Members of at least five Newtown churches, of all ages, were signed up to participate in this year’s walk, which stepped off from the area in front of Cochran House at Fairfield Hills shortly after 2.
