A portion of Hanover Road was closed as of Monday, April 23, between house numbers 51 and 62. This is a 1,300-foot stretch of road that runs from just south of Papoose Hill Road to north of Blakeslee Drive’s intersection with Hanover. Public Works crews are working with Nagy Bros to lower the center of the road about three feet. “We are lowering the road in the middle, to widen and stabilize it,” Public Works Director Fred Hurley said on April 20. “Bottom line, this will make the road safer.” In addition, old wood and cable guardrails will be replaced with metal guardrailing along this stretch. Only local traffic (homeowners) will be allowed into the construction area while the project is ongoing. Public Works Crew Chief Anthony Capozziello and Assistant Town Engineer David Bratz, co-supervisors on the project, hope to have everything finished within three weeks. Detours are posted. —Bee Photo, Hicks
