Artist Ival Stratford-Kovner’s work, which has recently been on view at the Newtown Municipal Center will continue to donate 10 percent of sales to the Second Company Governor’s Horse Guard (2GHG). Her show “Horse Drawn Revisited,” came down May 11. Ms Stratford-Kovner’s series of drawings executed in charcoal, monochromatic pastel, oil stick and selected burnt sienna wash, had been on view at the Newtown Municipal Center since April 12. The 2GHG troopers and mounts, stationed less than a mile from the municipal center, provided both the inspiration and a unique artistic challenge. The show served to honor the historical significance of the horse and rider relationship, said Ms Stratford-Kovner. The artist has promised to donate a portion of each work sold to the horse guard, and to programs that benefit disabled military veterans returning from service in Connecticut. (Bobowick photo)
