Twelve students from the morning 4-year-old class at Newtown Congregational Preschool toured Mt Pleasant Hospital for Animals, Wednesday, May 23, to learn about what a veterinarian does and the services provided at an animal hospital. Students listened to a dog’s heartbeat, visited the small animal examination room, viewed X-rays and tried on the protective lead apron, visited the recovery and surgery rooms, and participated in brushing a dog’s teeth. In this photo right, Ava Almeter listens to Travis’s heartbeat, while Ms Simpson looks on. The preschoolers have also recently visited the Public Works Highway Department headquarters and enjoyed a tour led by Public Works Director Frederick Hurley, and on May 18, got a taste of what it will be like to ride a school bus, thanks to LeReine Frampton, Bus 17. —Bee Photos, Crevier
