Newtown residents have been sending well wishes to residents of Boston, following the bombings at the Boston Marathon four weeks ago. In one effort from May 4 until May 11, residents of all ages painted hearts with personalized designs and messages of peace, hope, love, and friendship. These Hears of Hope represent a fraction of those done at a painting party at Newtown United Methodist Church on May 8. Others were done by scouts, members of Newtown Senior Center, and even groups of friends who wanted to pay it forward. Hearts of Hope first arrived in Newtown in February, when volunteers hung hundreds of hearts that had been created by people across the country wanting to send a sign of support here. On Monday, May 14, hundreds of hearts headed to Boston, continuing the act of kindness. (Hicks photo)
