Four students who attend Sandy Hook School had a very special ride to school Tuesday morning. James and Julia Doyle and Garrett and Madison Fetchick were picked up at the Doyle home on June 8 and driven to school in Sandy Hook Fire & Rescue Company’s brand-new 2010 Pierce Engine. $Police report a three-vehicle accident on southbound South Main Street at its intersection with Laurel Road about 3:12 pm June 6. Southbound motorist Joseph Devito, 43, of Monroe, who was driving a 2003 Nissan Pathfinder (above), slowed down for a noncontact vehicle ahead of him which was turning left onto Laurel Road. Southbound motorist Jessica Fisher, 39, of New York City, who was driving a 2006 Lexus RX-400, slowed down behind the Nissan. Southbound motorist Christina Ciamarra, 18, of 3 Avalon Way, who was driving a 2004 Suzuki Verona sedan, then struck the rear end of the Lexus, pushing the Lexus into the rear end of the Nissan. Ambulance volunteers transported Ciamarra and Fisher to Danbury Hospital to be checked for pain. Hook & Ladder firefighters went to the accident. Police issued Ciamarra an infraction for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart. (Hicks photo)$
