$Police report a two-car accident on South Main Street, near its intersection with Blue Spruce Drive, about 8:24 pm May 18. Motorist Tammy Weeden, 48, of Bridgeport was driving a 2008 Hyundai sedan southward on South Main Street, as motorist Raja Perumal, 23, of Karen Drive, who was driving a 2010 Toyota sedan, was attempting to make a left turn out from 320 South Main Street onto northbound South Main Street. As the Toyota attempted to make the turn, the Hyundai sought to avoid hitting the Toyota, but the two vehicles collided. Newtown Volunteer Ambulance Corps members transported Weeden and passenger Sheila Sanders, 40, of Bridgeport to Danbury Hospital for treatment of unknown injuries. Both women were treated and released, a hospital spokeswoman said. Botsford firefighters responded to the accident. Police issued Perumal an infraction for failure to grant the right of way.
