$Police report a collision involving a school bus and a compact sedan about 3:15 pm Tuesday, May 4, at the four-way intersection of Button Shop Road and Little Brook Lane. There were no injuries. Police said Frederick Bassett, 61, of 80 Birch Hill Road was driving full-size school bus #21 southward on Little Brook Lane and was going through the intersection, while motorist Brian Corbett, 16, of Southbury was driving a 2007 Toyota Corolla sedan westward on Button Shop Road. Police said Corbett was unable to stop the Toyota at a stop sign and then struck the left, middle section of the bus. There was one passenger on the bus, an unidentified 12-year-old girl who was sitting on the right side of the vehicle, near the front of the bus, police said. The Toyota was heavily damaged in the crash. The bus received a minor dent. Botsford firefighters responded to the accident to contain spilled automotive fluids. Police issued Corbett an infraction for failure to obey a stop sign. (Gorosko photo)$
