$A two-vehicle accident, in which a large box truck rolled over onto its side on Berkshire Road (Route 34) near its intersection with Gray’s Plain Road and Bennett’s Bridge Road at about 9:40 am on June 16, caused extended travel delays and detours in that area. Police, Sandy Hook Volunteer Fire & Rescue Company members, and the Newtown Volunteer Ambulance Corps responded to the incident. Police said motorist Alexa Larsen, 46, of 123 Lakeview Terrace, who was driving a 2009 Honda Accord coupe, stopped at a stop sign at the end of Gray’s Plain Road, as trucker Steven Goodman, 56, of Ridgefield was driving a 2008 UD box truck westward on Berkshire Road. The Honda then entered the intersection, resulting in the two-vehicle collision, police said. The truck went out of control and then landed on its left side on the roadway. Goodman was treated for injuries, police said. Larsen received an infraction for failure to grant the right of way at a stop sign, according to police. (Gorosko photo)$
