A group of Lions Club and VNA (Visiting Nurse Association) volunteers along with optometrist Dr Joseph Young, right, of Village Eye Care on Church Hill Road, provided pediatric eye screenings on Monday, November 4, for preschool students at Newtown High School, shown, and at Head O’ Meadow. Following the event, Dr Young said it was “wildly successful.” 123 preschool children had their eyes scanned during the day, according to Dr Young, who added, “which is just absolutely phenomenal.” He also said the event will become a yearly endeavor, with eye screenings also happening at the Lions Club annual Fall Health Fair.
