Jean Fadus of Newtown recently discovered a treasure in her attic: the black velvet full-length coat she wore to her junior prom in 1946. In pristine condition, the coat was offered to Jean’s granddaughter Olivia, also of Newtown, who added it to her outfit for her own junior prom last weekend. On March 27, Olivia and her boyfriend Luke Gaynor headed off to The Amber Room in Danbury to join their fellow Newtown High School classmates for an evening out. Jean was thrilled to find the coat, saying there “was not one little mark on it, and it fits her beautifully.” Olivia combined the vintage coat with a cute cream-colored dress with red lace accents, and red Converse sneakers. Luke went a more traditional route, wearing in a black tux when he arrived at the home of Olivia and her parents to pick up his date for the prom. (Hicks photo)
