Week of December 18, 2015
Newtown Lions Club members gathered at the home of member Paul Krueger on Sunday, December 13, to oversee the transition of the club’s 2015 Mustang Raffle car, a 1966 Ford Mustang, to its new owner. This year’s 2015 Mustang raffle came to a close on Saturday, October 17, at Edmond Town Hall when Reed Intermediate School student Justin Sims drew the winning raffle ticket. After Mr Krueger called winner Deb Grockowski of Bethlehem, he learned she had died in a car accident four days before the drawing. Ms Grockowski’s brother Jeff Grockowski of Middletown picked up the 1966 Mustang Sunday for the family. He brought a framed photograph of his sister with him to pick up the car. Mr Grockowski said he and his two siblings shared a 1967 Mustang when they were young, with each sibling bringing the car with them to college. The 1966 raffled Mustang reminded Mr Grockowski of his family’s old car. Mr Grockowski is pictured seated in the Mustang with a photo of his sister placed on the hood. Mustang raffle ticket drawer Justin Sims is pictured standing front right, and Newtown Lions Club members pictured from left are Skip Sims, Walk Schweikert, Ray Keegan, Frank Gardner, Bill Brett, Gary Fillion, Jim Guattery, Jon Christensen, Oscar De Los Santos, and Paul Krueger.
