Week of December 19, 2014
The town’s Memorial Sidewalk, which will eventually connect the sidewalks on Main Street to those in Sandy Hook Village, began taking shape last week when employees of LRM Landscape Contractors began doing site work on December 12. A team on Friday spent part of their day cutting into the asphalt at the corner of Main Street and Church Hill Road, working their way east along Church Hill Road. A worker for Summit Tree & Lawn Care of Monroe wields a chainsaw while standing in the bucket of a lift truck on the morning of Monday, December 15, as a large evergreen limb falls to the ground in front of a stockade fence next to the circa 1760 house at 38 Main Street. Workers removed the towering tree from the northeast corner of the Main Street flagpole intersection as part of the site work needed before the Church Hill Road sidewalk can be extended to the Main Street sidewalk.
