State police report a collision involving three passenger vehicles on eastbound Interstate 84, just east of the Exit 10 on-ramp, at about 5:30 pm on February 12. The incident caused travel delays during the evening rush. State police said that a Ford Taurus being operated by motorist John Manacek, 66, of Cheshire struck the rear end of a Nissan Rogue driven by Aaron Vangeersdaele, 30, of Woodbury, pushing that vehicle into the rear end of a 2012 Ford Taurus sedan driven by Robert Aviles, 51, of Waterbury. Manacek’s vehicle, shown here, received heavy front end damage. Manacek is thought to have received a minor injury, but refused transport by Newtown Volunteer Ambulance Corps, state police said. Sandy Hook volunteer firefighters also responded to the accident. State police said they issued Manacek an infraction for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart. (Hicks photo)
