Sandy Hook firefighters wait for a wrecker to arrive after responding to an accident in the area of 118 Berkshire Road during the early morning hours of last Friday morning. Police report that motorist Robert Vogt, 26, of Northford was driving a 2012 Honda CR-V SUV eastward on Berkshire Road, just east of its intersection with Zoar Road, at about 3:30 am on January 8, when while negotiating a curve in the road, the SUV entered the opposite lane and then went off the road, sideswiping a stone wall and then rolling over, landing on its roof in the eastbound lane. Vogt was able to self-extricate from the vehicle, and did not report injuries. Newtown Volunteer Ambulance Corps also responded to the accident. Police said they issued Vogt a misdemeanor summons for driving with a suspended license and for failure to keep to the right on a curve. (Hicks photo)
