From left, Rabbi Shaul Praver, the Reverend Rob Schenck, director Abigail Disney, and the Reverend Matt Crebbin pose for a photo after greeting attendees, following the January 10 regional premiere screening of Ms Disney’s documentary, The Armor of Light, at Newtown Congregational Church. The Armor of Light follows the journey of pro-life advocate Rev Schenck of Faith and Action in Washington, DC, as he questions whether evangelists can be pro-life and pro-gun, and the advocacy of Lucy McBath against “Stand Your Ground” laws, following the shooting death of her 17-year-old son, Jordan. Ms McBath, who considers herself a Christian and is pro-choice, and Rev Schenck meet and decide to work together “as they bravely attempt to make others consider America’s gun culture through a moral lens,” according to the http://www.armoroflightfilm.com website. Approximately 100 people attended the Sunday afternoon event. The public was invited to view the film and discuss differing viewpoints on gun violence afterward. The documentary will be shown on PBS May 10, for those who were unable to attend. Any group wishing to host a screening of the documentary can find information at the website. (Crevier photo)
