Kat Holick, Newtown’s dancing traffic agent, high-fives 3-year-old Ryan Costa, seated on father Gary Costa’s shoulders. Ryan’s mother, Julie Barbeau, challenged Ms Holick to take on TV talk show host Ellen Degeneres’s “Just Keep Dancing” challenge, to raise awareness of pediatric cancer. Ryan is currently undergoing treatment for leukemia, “and doing really well,” according to Ms Barbeau. Approximately two dozen people popped up on the Dickinson Park field Monday morning, May 25, to join Ms Holick and Ryan, as they danced to “Play It Again” by Luke Ryan, with sound provided by Linda Perrault. “I’m honored!” exclaimed Ms Holick. “That little boy has the cutest smile you’ve ever seen.” A video of the challenge will be sent to Ellen Degeneres, said Ms Holick, who issued a continuing challenge to “Just Keep Dancing” to pop stars Pink and Cher, and Laurie Pineau and the Sunshine Kids. “I just wanted [Kat] to do a video of herself. I never thought it would get this big,” laughed Ms Barbeau. (Crevier photo)
