This sedan came to rest with its rear end smashing into a tree alongside Main Street, following the vehicle’s spinning out of control on rain-slicked pavement at about 1:55 pm on November 6. Police said that motorist Joshua Smith, Jr, 22, of Bridgeport was driving a 1998 Honda Accord sedan northward on Main Street, near its intersection with Currituck Road, when he lost control of the vehicle, it went into a spin and then exited the roadway, striking a tree. After the collision, Smith, who received a minor injury, walked away from the accident scene, police said. Police found Smith, investigated, and then charged him with evading responsibility, failure to have automotive insurance, misuse of marker plates, and driving with a suspended license. Smith was released on $1,000 bail for a November 20 court appearance. (Gorosko photo)
