Sandy Hook Firefighter John Moore checks the roadway for fluids and vehicle debris following a two-car accident in front of 12 Buttonball Drive around 1:15 pm Thursday, November 19, while other firefighters check on the driver of one of the vehicles. Police report that a compact Volkswagen driven by Elizabeth Melega, 50, of Taunton, Mass., struck the rear end of an unspecified vehicle driven by Brian Olszewski, 21, of 4 Old Green Road. Melega received a minor injury, police said. An ambulance crew also responded to the accident. Police report they charged Melega with driving under the influence and with failure to drive a reasonable distance apart. Melega was released on $500 bail for a December 3 court appearance, according to police. (Hicks photo)
