Sandy Hook School hosted a Family Math Night on Wednesday, November 5, from 6 to 8 pm. According to school math/science specialist Kris Feda, an estimated 200 people attended the event, which had multiple celebrations of math throughout the school. In one area students were asked to estimate how many candies were in two jars. In another room students solved math problems using apps on tablets. In the school’s cafeteria different “math exercises” were overseen by volunteers, like a bean bag toss that had students multiply or add the numbers on which the bag landed. Shown, the Klapper family, from left, mother Jennifer, Gabe, Ryan, and father Matt, tried their best to estimate the number of candies in a jar. (Hallabeck photo)
