More than two dozen town employees, many with matching sequined T-shits emblazoned with a pink ribbon and the word “HOPE,” gathered recently in the Land Use office at Newtown Municipal Center for a brief ceremony recognizing October as Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and in support of cancer survivor and fellow staffer Susan Marcinek. First Selectman Pat Llodra gave a brief talk after which colleagues enjoyed some refreshments and an informal raffle. During the event, Mrs Llodra’s recovering administrative assistant was also joined by fellow survivor Tammy Hazen, who was a celebrated survivor at a similar gathering last year. (Voket photo)
