$Police report a four-vehicle accident near 3 Main Street about 4:12 pm on October 16, which resulted in one driver being transported to the hospital. Motorist Kimberlee Ruppar, 25, of Wethersfield, who was driving a US Army National Guard SUV carrying a military dog, was waiting on southbound South Main Street for a traffic signal. Southbound motorist Van Huan, 50, of Southbury, who was driving a 2005 Honda Pilot SUV, was waiting behind the military SUV. Southbound motorist Nancy Hayes, 63, of Brookfield, who was driving a 2012 Cadillac SRX SUV, was waiting behind the Honda. At that time, northbound motorist Clayton Makuch, 20, of 222 Brushy Hill Road was driving a 2002 Volvo S-80 sedan northward on Main Street, which then crossed over the road’s center line, police said. The Volvo struck both the military SUV and the Honda, causing the Honda to move backward and strike the Cadillac. Huan was transported to Danbury Hospital, police said. Hook & Ladder firefighters responded to the accident. Police said they issued Makuch an infraction for failure to drive to the right. (Voket photo)$
