A two-vehicle accident that occurred on eastbound Berkshire Road (State Route 34), just east of its intersection with Pole Bridge Road, at about 8:45 am on October 27, caused extended travel delays in the area, with police, fire, and ambulance crews responding to the incident. Police report that motorist Carol Casillo, 57, of 3 Walker Hill Road, who was driving a 2006 Subaru Outback station wagon, stopped for traffic conditions. Police said motorist Christopher Testani, 24, of Shelton, who was driving a 2007 Toyota Camry sedan, then rounded a curve in the road and was blinded by sun glare, after which the Toyota struck the rear end of the Subaru. Casillo reported pain and was transported by the Newtown Volunteer Ambulance Corps to Danbury Hospital, according to police. Sandy Hook Volunteer Fire & Rescue Company members responded to the accident. Testani received an infraction for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart, police said. (Gorosko photo)
