A group of 150 cyclists including injured veterans — men and women from all branches of the Armed Forces — and their supporters are participating in the Fifth Annual Ride 2 Recovery (R2R) Minuteman Challenge this week. R2R is a 501(c)(3) that helps injured veterans improve their health and wellness through individual and group cycling. This Year’s Minuteman ride began Sunday in Waltham, Mass., and will continue until Friday, September 12, when riders are due to arrive in Fort Lee, N.J. The route will cover 355 miles, and pass through five states with both rural and city riding, including plenty of hill climbing in Connecticut. The group spent most of Day Three/September 9 in the Nutmeg State, in fact, including a ride through Newtown. The riders here were part of the first group that rode through town. They passed through the intersection of Mt Pleasant Road at Hawleyville Road shortly after 2 pm Tuesday. (Hicks photo)
