Hawleyville Volunteer Fire Company #1 has purchased from the Housatonic Railroad Company, Inc, the vacant former Hawleyville post office, pictured, and land at 30 Hawleyville Road (Route 25). The fire company bought the wood-frame building and about three-quarters of an acre lying behind it. The post office closed in February 2009. (Gorosko photo)
